Nato a Pisa nel 1985, Riccardo Gnudi ha completato gli studi in organo e composizione organistica presso il Conservatorio di Musica "Luigi Cherubini" di Firenze (diploma Vecchio Ordinamento), il Royal College of Organists di Londra (ARCO Diploma), il Pontificio Istituto di Musica Sacra di Roma-Vaticano (Post-Gradum in repertorio organistico del Novecento) e l'Accademia di Musica "Artisten" dell'Università di Göteborg (Master of Fine Arts in organo e tastiere storiche nella classe di Hans Davidsson e Joel Speerstra con una tesi-concerto sulla fantasia corale nella Germania del Nord).

Ha frequentato corsi tenuti da organisti di fama internazionale tra cui J. Scott, L. Lohmann, H. Fagius, D. Roth a Roma, Firenze, Parigi, Göteborg, Londra e presso importanti istituzioni come le Università di Cambridge e di Oxford.

Attivo sia come concertista che come compositore, ha suonato in tutta Europa e le sue composizioni sono state eseguite in Danimarca, Svezia, Germania, Inghilterra, Canada e USA. Ha il titolo di Haus- und Hofkomponist presso il coro tedesco Vocapella Colonia, per il quale compone su commissione.

Già organista titolare e direttore musicale della Chiesa Nazionale di S. Stefano dei Cavalieri (2009-2015) e secondo organista della Cattedrale di Pisa (2010-2015), nel 2015 si è trasferito in Svezia, dove ha svolto l'attività di organista presso varie parrocchie di Göteborg. Nel luglio 2017 ha vinto il concorso per il ruolo full-time di maestro di cappella e organista della chiesa luterana di Karlskoga, dove ha fondato e dirige la Cappella Musicale formata da strumentisti e cantori professionisti. Fondatore e direttore artistico dell'Accademia d'Organo di Karlskoga (Karlskoga Orgelakademi), tiene regolarmente corsi d'interpretazione di musica antica italiana all'organo napoletano, unico esempio di organo barocco italiano in Svezia, sul quale ha registrato una vasta porzione del repertorio italiano antico, tra cui le opere complete di Bianciardi, Cavazzoni, Palestrina, Fasolo, Salvatore, Cima, Cirri ed i Fiori Musicali di Girolamo Frescobaldi.

Ha ricevuto prestigiose borse di studio, conferite da The Cambridge Academy of Organ Studies (Cambridge, 2012), Vänersborg Söners Gille (Vänersborg, 2016), Pro Fide et Christianismo (Uppsala, 2021) e dalla Royal Swedish Academy of Music (Stoccolma, 2022). Grazie alla borsa di studio ricevuta nel 2021, ha potuto approfondire gli studi a Treviso, concentrandosi sul repertorio veneto tra '500 e '900 sotto la guida del maestro Giovanni Feltrin.

Dedito alla ricerca artistico-musicale, ha pubblicato vari libri di storia organaria: L'Organo in Svezia (in italiano, 2020), The Tuscan Organ (in inglese, 2021), Italiens Orgelhistoria (in svedese, 2022), M.E. Bossi in Svezia 1920-1922 (in italiano, 2022) tutti editi da Campano Edizioni, Pisa. Presso la stessa casa editrice, per la quale aveva già pubblicato composizioni originali, ha pubblicato la prima edizione moderna della Sonata per Organo n.5 del compositore svedese Gustaf Mankell.


SVENSKA

Riccardo Gnudi, född 1986 i Pisa, har studerat orgel och komposition i Florens ("Luigi Cherubini" Musikkonservatoriet, Orgeldiplom), London (Royal College of Organists, ARCO), Rom-Vatikanstaten (Påvliga Institutet för Sakral Musik, PgD) och slutligen i Göteborg (Högskolan för Scen och Musik, MFA), där han har avlagt en masterexamen efter studier för Hans Davidsson, Joel Speerstra och Karin Nelson.

Han har spelat på konserter i hela Europa och har arbetat som organist bl.a. i Santo Stefano dei Cavalieri kyrka i Pisa (2009-15) och varit organist i katedralen i samma stad (2010-15) innan han flyttade till Sverige 2015.

Han har fått flera stipendier: Vänersborg Söners Gille (Vänersborg, 2016), Pro Fide et Christianismo (Uppsala, 2021), Kungliga Musikaliska Akademien (Stockholm, 2022). Tack vare stipendiet Pro Fide et Christianismo fick han fördjupa sig i den venetianska orgelrepertoaren i Treviso, Italien.

Efter avslutade studier i Göteborg, blev han 2017 organist i Karlskoga församling (Karlstads Stift). Till Karlskoga har han införskaffat Sveriges första historiska italienska barockorgel. Kring detta instrument har han grundat "Karlskoga Orgelakademi" med ett program som omfattar regelbundna mästerkurser, utgivning av böcker och skrifter om italiensk orgelkultur, samt produktion av inspelningar med i första hand italiensk orgelmusik.

Born in Pisa in 1986, Riccardo Gnudi completed his studies in organ performance and organ composition at the "Luigi Cherubini" Conservatory of Music in Florence, the Royal College of Organists in London (ARCO Diploma), the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music of Rome-Vatican (Post-Gradum in organ repertoire of the 20th century) and the Academy of Music "Artisten", University of Gothenburg (Master of Fine Arts in organ and historical keyboards in the class of H. Davidsson and J. Speerstra, with a thesis about the North German Choral-fantasy). He has attended courses held by internationally renowned organists including J. Scott, L. Lohmann, H. Vogel, H. Fagius, D. Roth in Rome, Florence, Paris, Gothenburg, London and at well-known institutions including the University of Cambridge and Oxford.

Active both as a concert performer and composer, he has performed throughout Europe (Italy, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, England, Scandinavia, Poland, France) and his compositions have been performed in Scandinavia, Germany, England, Canada and the USA. He has the title of “Haus- und Hofkomponist” at the German choir Vocapella Köln, for which he composes on commission. He has been awarded some music scholarships: The Cambridge Academy of Organ Studies (Cambridge, 2012), Vänersborg Söners Gille (Vänersborg, 2016), Pro Fide et Christianismo (Uppsala, 2021), the Royal Swedish Academy of Music (Stockholm, 2022). Thanks to the 2021 scholarship, he has spent one month in Treviso, Italy, focusing on the Venetian organ repertoire.

Formerly Titular Organist and Musical Director of the National Church of S. Stefano dei Cavalieri and Second Organist at Pisa Cathedral, he moved to Sweden in 2015, where he worked as an organist in various parishes in Gothenburg. In July 2017, he gained the full-time Director of Music and Organist position at Karlskoga church, where he founded and directs the Cappella Musicale made up of professional singers and musicians. Founder and artistic director of the Karlskoga Organ Academy (Karlskoga Orgelakademi), he regularly holds interpretation courses of Italian early music at the Neapolitan baroque organ on which repertoire he is an expert. On this instrument, he has recorded the complete organ works by Bianciardi, Cavazzoni, Palestrina, Fasolo, Salvatore, Cima, Cirri and Girolamo Frescobaldi's Fiori Musicali.

Dedicated to artistic research in Music, he has published various books on organ history: L'Organo in Svezia (October 2020, in Italian), The Tuscan Organ (January 2021, in English), Italiens Orgelhistoria (February 2022, in Swedish), M.E. Bossi in Svezia (June 2022, in Italian) all published by Campano Edizioni, Pisa. He has published the first modern Urtext edition of Gustaf Mankell's Organ Sonata nr. 5 (June 2022, Campano Edizioni, Pisa).
